Work desk via bunk bed

Getting Scamp ready for its inaugural trip meant that not only should I be ready to hit the open road, but to be able to do online work once I have sorted my campsite. I realized that the dining table/sleep area isn’t really a place to setup the imac, multiple external drives, keyboard, and mouse. And I knew that the bunkbed wasn’t going to have children sleepers so now it must be storage and work area ready.

I took the cushions from the bottom bunk and made a pattern that I was able to trace onto some paper (which coincidentally smelled like sour milk, nasty) and then cut out of some 1/2 inch plywood. That piece fits tightly over to top of the original top bunk upholstery to make a hard surface. It is basically a force-fit table topper. In order to install it I had to cut into two pieces, notched to lock into place.

Haven’t figured out what I will finish with…more coming.
