I had every intention of kicking off the Shutter Scamp tour this week—Tehachapi Winery was calling, the gear was dialed, and the trailer was prepped for liftoff. But life threw a curveball, and I had to make the call to cancel my first travel date.
The short version? Timing sucked. The longer version? I’m still deep in the final stretch of downsizing and house turnover. And while the Scamp is ready to roll, I’m not confirming my next site until everything here is wrapped up tight. No loose ends. No half-baked exits.
To add a layer of absurdity, the HOA has decided my trailer’s mere existence is a threat to suburban tranquility. They’ve been harassing my landlord about its presence—despite it being parked in front of the garage temporarily while i prep it, not living in it. It’s a classic case of “not in my backyard,” and while it’s frustrating, it’s not my hill to die on. I’ve got bigger priorities.
Like helping Lauren and Wesley. Their move to Tustin is a major transition, and being here to support them—especially Wesley, who needs extra care and stability—is non-negotiable. That kind of aid doesn’t fit neatly into a travel itinerary, but it matters more than any launch date.
So yes, I’m disappointed. I wanted to be on the road, camera in hand, chasing sunsets and stories. But this pause isn’t a derailment—it’s a recalibration. Once the house is turned over, I’ll be 100% mobile. No HOA. No distractions. Just the open road and the Scamp, finally unleashed.Stay tuned.
The journey’s still happening—just with a slightly delayed departure.
