It has been awhile since I have had the time and good internet to report on my travels, and even still my internet is sketchy. The wonderful thing about the Washington forest is the huge trees covering the sky with lush greenery…it’s also why starlink can’t give me reliable signal up or down.
I am learning the ropes, how to deal with repair problems on the road. It sucks, to be sure. Ordered Amazon stuff with a plan to pick up en route to Castlerock from Lincoln City, but Amazon buggered the shipment so the thermostat replacement and starlink tripod mount came after I was 90 miles away. So I did an all day trip back to Warrenton, did laundry and groceries on the way.
The unexpected surprise is how amazing the Harvest Host for my free stay has been. Barry and I hit it off right away, and the first thing we did after I dropped the trailer is take a hike around his property. Huge natural forest (old growth trees) and fern gullies, creeks with moss everywhere.

He told me the property was his grandfather’s beef cattle ranch originally, forest cleared for growing hay. He has apples, plums, pears, and cherries now.
Barry also took me to see several other properties he rents out to campers: spectacular riverfront spots. I helped him do some site cleanup after the campers left and he’s offered to let me stay on them for free since its the endo of the season. That is amazing, and kind. Truly a good man.

It is problematic that I have more beautiful images than my phone or internet can share but I will do more when I get open sky.
Repairs: omg what a pain. Had Tillamook RV fix leaky faucet, rehang door hinges, and repplace the leaky toilet. This was a four day event while I camped at Tillamook Airport RV…just a pad and no hookups.
I realize now that my battery system compartment is generating so much heat that the adjacent thermostat thinks its toasty warm and won’t turn on unless its set to 85 degrees. The propane won’t start on the new water heater, but luckily it works OK on battery and 110v ac.
The water tank at 9 gallons empties fast just washing hands, dishes and toilet flushing. So there is a need to carry multiple water containers to awkwardly refill the Scamp. That hose from the sink to outside (no graywater tank) is annoying when I can’t drain downhill into the tote container (which has to be dumped somewhere else).
The dometic fridge does work on 110v, but is sketchy now on propane. Luckily I have an electric cooler that works great on 12 volts, but could really use the space the Dometic is taking up.
These are things every RV traveler has to worry about if they do it enough.
Better save this post before I lose it!!!
