Thermostat, water, sudden death

No end to “lessons learned” with the 1984 Scamp. After replacing the rusty original analog thermostat with a fancy digital unit three days ago, it suddenly went blank (no power, no heat).

Pulled the faceplate off and water dribbled out! I freaked out as it happened to have been raining last night, and right now. But no source of leak anywhere, this camper is solid.

I think that the location of the thermostat next to the very powerful heat generating converter/charger for the house battery and the Dometic fridge which only works on propane heat was venting condensation through the hole in the fiberglass wall it was attached to. It killed the circuit.

So, I ave another old fashioned analog thermostat coming Wednesday and will add that to my repair list. Yesterday I found that the 15 amp adapter fused with the house power cable, so I had to order a replacement for THAT.

Is this going to be as bad as owning a house??
