Catching up on my media, leaks and carpet removal

OMG the rainstorm on the way from Oregon to Bakersfield was insane. I learned that the heavy rain was too much for the old failing door seal (floor near my camper door was flooded with road puddles splashing up), my vent leaked profusely because apparently the airconditioner mounted ahead of it created a vortex that pulled water into the vent, and my carpet was thoroughly soaked.

My sister Kirsti and her husband Coy came to my rescue, allowing me to stay with them as I have had a RV repair place, Rosedale RV reseal the caps on the roof, fabricate a shield off of the air conditioner to keep rain from hitting the vent, and repairing the bulb seal on the door that has been a problem. Another company is ripping out the glued on carpet, putting in underlayment and new vinyl flooring. I am sad I won’t have the “vintage” carpet look, but this pine needle capturing carpet that would soon smell funky has to go.

In the meantime, I have been exploring the town with my sister and meeting some neat people. The Bakersfield music scene is largely playing local venues, and the Outlaw Country band is becoming more popular every month. There is a hope that Bakersfield has a renewal of sorts, with it’s own cultural features rooted in agriculture, cowboy lifestyle.

I hope to be able to comb through all my content and begin publishing the bits that I’ve been unable to get with lousy or non-existent internet while I’m on solid ground at my sister’s. More to come!!!
